Introducing the Fairwinds Open Source User Group

Fairwinds loves open source. We are huge advocates of Kubernetes and the community of open source technologies around it. Having managed thousands of clusters for customers over the years, our team has learned a thing or two about the problems that need solving. We’ve addressed some of these with open source tools including:

  • Polaris runs a variety of checks to ensure that pods and controllers are configured using Kubernetes best practices, helping you avoid problems in the future.
  • Goldilocks is a utility that can help you identify a starting point for resource requests and limits.
  • Nova is a command-line interface for cross-checking the Helm charts running in your cluster with the latest versions available
  • Pluto helps users easily find deprecated Kubernetes API versions in their Infrastructure-as-Code repositories and Helm releases.
  • RBAC Manager is an operator that supports declarative configuration for RBAC with new custom resources. Instead of managing role bindings or service accounts directly, you can specify a desired state and RBAC Manager will make the necessary changes to achieve that state. It simplifies authorization in Kubernetes.

Fairwinds Open Source User Group

With thousands of users, we wanted a way to bring together users of our open source projects to discuss development and give users a chance to influence the roadmap. I’m excited to announce the newly formed Fairwinds Open Source User Group! Members can join to ask the group questions, share what’s working and network with each other.

Our first open source user group meetup will be on June 17 at 11am EST. If you are interested in joining, you can register for the group and we’ll send you an invite.
