GitOps is an operational framework that takes DevOps best practices typically used for building applications and extends them to infrastructure as part of an effort to automate the application delivery process.
The goal of GitOps is to bridge the divide that persists between developers and IT operations teams, even as more developers are being asked to manage the complete life cycle of an application.
The best way to accomplish that goal is to leverage git repositories to manage application artifacts and the code created to deploy them using software created via infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
